Best Buy: SanDisk Extreme Plus 64GB Class 10 UHS-I Memory Card Was $100 | Now $60

Posted by on April 1, 2015 at 11:17 PM

Best Buy: SanDisk Extreme Plus 64GB Class 10 UHS I Memory Card Was $100 | Now $60

Best Buy Canada has a great deal on a truly professional memory card. The SanDisk Extreme Plus 64GB 80MB/s SDXC Class 10 UHS-I Memory Card is on sale from $99.99 down to $59.99 with free shipping.

This is no ordinary memory card. The SanDisk features reading speeds of up to 80MB/s and writing speeds up to 60MB/S for quick transfer rates and quick picture taking. The picture is stored in your camera’s memory fast – there is no delay here. This is both a Class 10 card and has the UHS Speed Class 1 (U1) video rating. That means this card can handle cinema-quality 3D and full HD videos. You want this card if you are recording RAW video.

When price comparing, you need to find the right card to compare against. There are several 64GB extreme memory cards from SanDisk – so make sure you are comparing against the Class 10 and UHS Class 1. I found the same memory card at Amazon Canada for $129.95 and at Vistek Canada for $139.99. I have seen similar cards – like the U3 – for as low as $63 but that only had a reading speed of up to 60MB/S instead of 80MB/s.

This is a card you might want to use in high quality digital cameras where you will be shooting HD movies or taking raw photos. This is certainly a professional quality memory card, and one I would be happy to stick in my Sony camera. The speed would make it excellent for action shots – like when I took a 19-image action snap of a geyser bursting. I wish my memory card had been faster so I could have captured more images – especially in the early stages.

One reviewer recommends this card when it is on sale:

Got this for my Canon Rebel during this year’s Black Friday sale. Works fine and got a good deal for it. It would probably be best to wait until another sale to get this if you’re not in a hurry to get it.

Well, here is another sale! For only $60, I think this is a fantastic buy especially at 64GB of memory. It will take you a while to max that out for memory.

The Imitation Game [Blu-Ray Combo] Now $17.24 @ (FS @ $25)

The Imitation Game [Blu Ray Combo] Now $17.24 @ (FS @ $25)

The Imitation Game was just released in theatres a few months ago so I am shocked to see such a good deal on the Blu-Ray combo pack so soon. Originally $37.99, The Imitation Game is on sale for $17.24 right now.

I price compared the price of this movie against other popular retailers. Best Buy Canada is selling The Imitation Game for $24.99 and Best Buy Canada is selling the same combo for $24.96. As Amazon is nearly $7 cheaper on such a new movie – I thought this would be a great chance to purchase it without waiting too long.

I also want to note that this edition includes the Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital Copy. Just the DVD copy retails for $19.99 at Best Buy and Walmart so you are receiving this deluxe combo for less than the DVD copy alone.

I saw the ads for this movie and highly considered going, but I do not like watching wartime movies. Even my devotion to the notoriously good-looking Benedict Cumberbatch did not sway my decision. On IMDB, this movie rates 8.1/10 stars. Many of the reviews are like a mini essay, but I really like what this one reviewer closed with:

Go see it! Because otherwise you would be missing the chance to see a most remarkable film, performed to perfection. A film about a story that matters, about events that changed history and simply about a man without whom you might not even be able to read this review on your Turing machine.

In case you are not familiar with the plot – it is the ‘based on true events’ story of brilliant mathematician Alan Turing who cracked the ‘unbreakable’ German Enigma code during World War II. He made a very large dent in history – and really was a pivotal figure in the way the war turned out.

I also checked the movie out on Rotten Tomatoes where it has an 89% rating by critics and a 93% rating by audience members. This movie was very well received as you can see, and should be an excellent edition to your collection.

Receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more. I suggest buying Interstellar as well as it is also on for only $17.24 – a fantastic price when compared with other retailers.

Best Buy Canada is offering up to 76% off TechCraft Atrium accent furniture. Receive free shipping on all these pieces as well.

The TechCraft Atrium Storage Wall Hanging Shelf (A10BLHNS42) takes your storage needs and lifts them off the floor. Mount this shelving unit in your front entry, workroom, office, playroom, or even a child’s bedroom. Enjoy more floor space, less clutter, and better storage solutions for mitts, scarves, toys, office supplies, and more. Originally $219.99, the shelf is on sale for $59.99.

Next, the TechCraft Atrium Storage Credenza (A10BLST36) matches the above shelf and is a great solution for lower storage needs. You could even use this as a baby change table by adding on a changing pad to the top. The shelves and baskets provide excellent storage options. I could also see using this in the bottom of a closet if you are limited on room. Children could put their clothes on the shelves and their socks in the baskets. Originally $359.99, the storage unit is on sale for $99.99.

Lastly, purchase the TechCraft Atrium Mirror Cabinet (A10BLMRS20) to match your set, Originally $179.99, this framed mirror is on sale for $49.99. Mirrors are rather pricey, so this unit is worth the $50 just for the mirror alone. However, you also will enjoy extra storage space behind the mirror too! Open up the mirror to reveal storage hooks, a cork board, and a mail slot. There are also hooks below the mirror that can be used for jackets, scarves, umbrellas, and more. If you want to use it in a bathroom, the use the hooks for hanging up wet washcloths. I love having one of these in my entryway so I can make sure I do not look frazzled when I go out.

This fantastic deal is available for today only. If you are looking for some great storage solutions and need a break on furniture prices, then I highly encourage you pick up a few of these matching pieces. As they are black with wicker baskets, they should match most home decors.

Walmart Canada: MobiGo Cartridges Were $24 | Now $10 & Free Shipping

Posted by on April 1, 2015 at 2:55 PM

Walmart Canada: MobiGo Cartridges Were $24 | Now $10 & Free Shipping

From what we hear, today is the last day of free shipping with no minimum at Walmart Canada. I was checking out the toy section because toys are the only thing I have bought at Walmart Canada in 10 years. I ran across a selection of Vtech MobiGo software for MobiGo and MobiGo 2 systems. Originally these games were $23.74, but they are now on sale for $10 each.

The Mobigo Software: Thomas the Tank Engine- English Version is only $10 right now, which makes it a good deal and an excellent way to expand your child’s software collection. The software includes four learning games. In addition, there is a bonus activity once you complete, allows you to unlock new engines to play with in the four learning games. The game also has the voices of all your child’s favourite characters including Thomas, Sir Topham Hatt, and more.

The other three games priced at $10 are in French. You can pick up Cars 2 – MobiGo Touch Learning System, Mobigo 2 Software- Jake and the Neverland, and Mobigo Software:Disney Minnie Mouse all in the French versions. This is a great way to promote bilingual learning and help your child get a head start on their French. These are also fantastic if you live in some of the French speaker areas in Canada. I took two courses in university French last year. Unfortunately, I am losing it without practice. I think games like this are a great way to maintain a second language and help it further develop.

Now, if your budget can stretch a little farther, then there are many great Mobigo games on sale from $23.74 down to $15. Disney Tangled Mobigo Software starts the endearing princess, her frog, and the notorious Flynn Rider. The Disney Brave-Mobigo 2 Software- French Version is probably my top pick of the $15 games. I love this fierce little redhead girl.

In English, you can score Mobigo Software- Disney Sofia the First. Sofia the First is popular among young girls and I am sure young fans would love to play a game based on their favourite princess. The Mobigo Software- Bubble Guppies is also in available in English. I watched a bit of this show while waiting for my blood to be taken at a clinic. It was far more interesting than the baseball game on the ‘adult’ television.

These cartridges are all out of stock at the four closest Walmart’s to me. I highly recommend picking them up online. All cartridges are compatible with the MobiGo and the MobiGo 2.

Hudson’s Bay Canada: Nautica Duvet Sets Were $550 | Now $130 & Free Shipping

Posted by on April 1, 2015 at 12:43 PM

Hudsons Bay Canada: Nautica Duvet Sets Were $550 | Now $130 & Free Shipping

The Hudson’s Bay is having a flash sale on today with Nautica duvet sets on sale, regularly up to $550 and now only $129.99 with free shipping.

There are two sets available at this low price and I’ve already picked up mine. Both sets are gorgeous, one with a floral look, the other with a simpler look.

The first set on sale is the Tisbury duvet cover set. It was $550 for the king, $485 for the queen and both now only $129.99. It comes with the duvet cover, two decorative pillows and the sham set. The cover is also reversible with stripes on one side and Jacobean flowers on the other. The cover and shams are mainly red with navy and grey accents.

The second set is the Winston duvet cover set. It was $520 for the king and $460 for the queen and now $129.99 for both sizes. It also includes the cover, two decorative pillows and the shams. This one is blue with white and cobalt blue stripes. I love the simple look of this one for a masculine room for a couple, man or teenage boy.

I like that the king size of the set is the same on sale price as the queen. I have a king size bed and bedding can be very expensive as compared to the smaller sizes.

If you don’t have a duvet, you are in luck if you have a full or queen size bed. The Nautica down alternative duvet was $200 and is now only $70, which is a seriously fantastic deal. Alternative down is great for those allergic to animal down or who want an alternative from animal products.

Shipping is free at Hudson’s Bay when you spend over $99 so the duvet sets will ship for free on their own. If those two styles of duvet covers don’t suit you, there are more sets on sale, just not at the price reduction of the Nautica sets. But, there are great designers like Ralph Lauren, Hotel and Gluckstein Home.

Amazon Canada: Interstellar Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital HD Was $43 | Now $17 (FS @ $25)

Posted by on April 1, 2015 at 10:30 AM

Amazon Canada: Interstellar Blu Ray/DVD/Digital HD Was $43 | Now $17 (FS @ $25)

A movie that’s been getting a lot of buzz lately is Interstellar with Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine. Amazon’s got a really great price on it right now, with the combination blu-ray, DVD and digital HD fetching only $17.24, with a regular price of $42.99.

With the ultimate sci-fi story, time on earth is over and man needs to figure out where they’re now going to live. Of course that means in space. A team of explorers take to looking at the stars and planets for a place to bed down mankind. But, it isn’t as simple as pitching a tent and claiming the space “mine”. In the same fashion of Armageddon, the other save the planet movie of one name with a hot aging leading actor, the main character has to decide between leaving his family or saving the world. That’s a tough choice man.

IMDb gives it a total of 8.8 stars, which is quite a good rating for that site. Since this isn’t a movie I wouldn’t typically want to watch, this review from IMDb has me convinced I should pop a bowl of popcorn and try it out:

‘Interstellar’ was incredible. The visuals, the score, the acting, were all amazing. The plot is definitely one of the most original I’ve seen in a while. Most of the critic reviews have said that some bits are a little too unbelievable, but I have to disagree. Yes, there were some parts that were definitely in the “fi” part of sci-fi. But the thing is, ‘Interstellar’ deals with concepts that we know very little about.

Amazon’s price is the best around, trust me, I looked. Best Buy does sell it as its regular price of $24.99, so Amazon’s regular price is a bit inflated. Walmart sells it for $24.96.

In order to get free shipping on this item from Amazon, you’ll have to get your cart up to $25. You could add the movie The Theory of Everything to your cart, which is said to be a must-see as well, with a regular price of $29.99 and now $22.99, which is also lower than the other stores I checked.

Banana Republic Promo Code: 41% Off Everything Today Only

Posted by on April 1, 2015 at 9:06 AM

Banana Republic Promo Code: 41% Off Everything Today Only

For today only, Banana Republic has released a promo code for a 41% discount on any order. No, this is not an April Fool’s joke! Banana Republic Promo Code: 41% Off Everything Today Only

Click here to shop @ now

  • Coupon Code: BRAPRIL
  • Discount: 41% off
  • Expiry: 1st April 2015

Since Banana Republic is the more expensive one out of the 3 Gap Brands, which includes Gap and Old Navy, I like to almost always only check out the sale section, especially when there are coupon codes like these so that I can save even more on already reduced items.

With summer fast approaching, I have been thinking of ways to change up my closet and discounts like these definitely help a lot. I spotted the gray knit dress on sale for $63.99 (reg. $124), which means that at checkout, it comes down to just $37.75! Surprisingly for a dress that I found in Banana Republic’s sale section, it’s actually currently available in every size. Keep in mind that it should only be dry cleaned and it features an “oh-so flattering” silhouette. Out of the 3 posted reviews, one was disappointed but the other two praised this dress. One reviewer even pointed out how it could easily be worn throughout the changing seasons:

Great weekend wear — pair with leggings and boots in the winter, or alone with sandals in the spring.

My hubby never bothers to iron anything. He just doesn’t seem to notice the wrinkles at all and so I think that the tailored slim-fit non-iron gray check shirt would be a hit with him. It comes in either regular or tall and I know that he will appreciate the slim fit over the regular fits. Plus, it’s 100% cotton! Originally priced at $95, it’s on sale for $85.99 and further comes down to just $50.73.

Shared Checkout

The great part about shopping at one of the Gap brands is that they have a shared checkout. This means that you could add a top from Gap, pants from Banana Republic and baby clothes from Old Navy and still only check out once. Today’s discounts at the other brands aren’t as high as the Banana Republic promo code but you can get:

  • 35% off until 5pm ET and 25% off from 5-midnight with coupon GAPHAHA @
  • Up to 40% off all dresses & skirts @
  • 25% off all kids & baby merchandise with the coupon code BONUS @

All of these expire today, on April 1st, as well.

Shipping is free on orders over $50.

Bosch Tassimo T20 Home Brewing System Was $170 | Now $60 + Free Shipping @

Posted by on March 31, 2015 at 9:21 PM

Bosch Tassimo T20 Home Brewing System Was $170 | Now $60 + Free Shipping @

Wake up and smell the coffee, but don’t wait until the morning to snag this deal. Amazon Canada promotions sometimes end real quick, so if you’re in the market for a Tassimo Home Brewing System then grab this one. This Bosch Tassimo T20 Home Brewing System can be picked up for just $59.99 right now @ This is 65% off the previous price which was $169.99. You’ll get free shipping too.

While you may have spent a good portion of your time searching for an affordable and compact coffee maker, the solution is right under your nose. You can shop at and take 65% off this Bosch Tassimo T20 Home Brewing System for just $59.99. This brewer will allow you to have a perfect beverage every time, just at the touch of a button. Tassimo has T-Discs for many delicious beverages like coffee, tea, hot chocolate and even iced beverages. I am very thankful for my Tassimo brewer, especially on busy mornings when all I want is my caffeine fix. This brewer only makes one cup at a time, so you’ll no longer have to waste the rest of the pot of coffee if you don’t drink it all.

I did do a little price comparison on this Tassimo product, just to make sure this is the absolute best price. Here is a look at what other Canadian retailers are selling the Bosch Tassimo T20 Home Brewing System for:

While Tassimo says that there are no taste transfers between drinks, I have to disagree. If I make tea before hot chocolate, I can slightly taste it. Also, if I don’t clean my machine often enough, it gets a metal taste. I would suggest using the provided cleaning T-Disc every once in a while to clean your machine to prevent this. This particular Tassimo model has a 1.5 litre water tank, so you won’t have to refill the water whenever you make you and your partner a drink. There are many excellent reviews on the Tassimo machines, but many also complain that there are not as many flavours available as the Keurig has. Are you on the Tassimo or Keurig team?

Unfortunately only the black version of this brewer is on sale. The white model is the regular price of $169.99. I find black will look better with other appliances anyway. Amazon will also throw in free shipping since this purchase is over $25.

Dell Canada: Wireless Laser Mouse Was $45 | Now $30 & Free Shipping

Posted by on March 31, 2015 at 9:06 PM

Dell Canada: Wireless Laser Mouse Was $45 | Now $30 & Free Shipping

Dell Canada has the Dell WM514 Wireless Laser Mouse on sale from $44.99 down to $29.99 with free shipping.

With a wireless mouse, you reduce cable clutter around your desk. While I currently use a wired mouse (it is what I own), the wires constantly drive me crazy as my mouse runs into them. I also have accidentally sent my mouse flying a few times when I forgot to unplug the USB port when moving my computer. I have done that so many times. My next purchase will be a wireless mouse.

Like other Dell mice, the WM514 has the Dell Unifying software so you can manage up to six other peripheral devices (like keyboard, number pads, and other mice) all through one nano-USB receiver. This is very useful technology for those with limited USB ports on their computer. My gaming computer only has three USB ports and they are often completely full with mice, the charging cable for my phone, and more.

The mouse also is Microsoft Windows 8 compatible. With Windows 8 gesture controls, you can scroll up, down, left or right with the mouse wheel. This helps you navigate Windows 8 tiles. The side buttons will access the Windows 8 charms bar. The mouse can also function perfectly ‘normal’ with other operating systems.

The reviews for this mouse are very positive. It ranks a solid 4.5/5 stars with over 20 reviews. One reviewer said:

I am very pleased with this product. It is easy to use, has a good structure, and I love that it turns off when not in use. I am definitely not a savy tech person so I was pleased that nothing about it was complicated. I love my new laptop and mouse. Life is good Dell Canada: Wireless Laser Mouse Was $45 | Now $30 & Free Shipping

Overall, this is a good size, well-shaped, reliable Dell wireless mouse. While I have seen some cheaper mice, this mouse provides full features for Windows 8 and can be used on almost any surface. The Dell unifying software is a very nice bonus that is becoming standard on all their devices it seems.

If you own this mouse then please drop us a line and tell us what you think of it.

Microsoft Canada: Jabra Solemate Mini Bluetooth Speaker Was $100 | Now $60 & Free Shipping

Microsoft Canada has discounted the lovely little Jabra Solemate Mini Bluetooth Speaker from $99.99 down to $59.99 with free shipping.

I could not find this speaker at many Canadian retailers, but I did find it at a few. Here is what you would pay at the competition for this mighty little speaker:

  • $69.99 @ Dell Canada
  • $78.92 @ Amazon Canada
  • $87.99 + $7.60 shipping @ Newegg Canada now
  • $99.98 @ Best Buy Canada

All the Jabra mini speakers I found at other retailers are in red (and one yellow one) – Microsoft Canada appears to be the only one in Canada to sell the black speaker. I think the black speaker looks the best and I would certainly choose it over the red.

Why do you need the Jabra? Well, this is your do it all sort of speaker. The mini device is small enough to go anywhere and yet packs big sound with two powerful speakers. Eight hours of play time will give you a good charge while you are out seeing the world or relaxing in a hotel room or outside having a BBQ. The Jabra Solemate is dust and splash resistant. That does not mean you can drop it in the pool (do not do that) but it can withstand the usual pumps and scrapes of travelling. This is possible because the speaker has an all-over rubber coating for protection.

The mini Jabra connects to any device via Bluetooth or NFC if you have it. You can control the speaker from your phone even when you are sitting across the room. Just hook up your iPhone or android for endless music on the go. I think this is a sweet little speaker with a lot of promise.

While there are many wireless speakers produced these days, my travel speaker must always be able to withstand a little rough treatment. That is why I really like the rubber coating on this one. If you accidentally drop the speaker, or it gets shoved into your backpack with a leaky water bottle… there is a much better chance this speaker will survive and live to blare music another day.

As with all orders at Microsoft Canada, the speaker receives free shipping to your home.
