UPDATE: Details on Refunds for Birchbox Closure in Canada!

Well it is official. I told you a few days ago that Birchbox may be pausing all their Canadian operations, and now they have done it. If you have yet to learn about that, then be sure to check out my blog post here. If you have recently ordered Birchbox, then you will be interested in these refund details for sure.

Birchbox had previously said that March would be the last subscription sent out to Canadian subscribers, but that has now changed. February 2016 will be the last to be sent out, and if you have a subscription then you are going to want a refund. Read the rest of this entry »

Roll Up The Rim is Back @ Tim Hortons Canada!

I am totally ready for free coffee, donuts, and maybe even a car?! The fabulous Tim Horton’s Roll Up The Rim is back -and I am totally excited. I may have to pick Tim Horton’s over Starbucks for a few weeks – and that kind of stung to say.

Roll Up The Rim is said to have started yesterday, but I did not receive the much-loved cup when I picked up my morning coffee. Hopefully I will get one today, all of the prizes sound wonderful. I think I still have some wins in my wallet from last year actually. I always forget to use them! Read the rest of this entry »

Ikea to Build 12 New Stores Across Canada – Beginning in Halifax!

Ikea to Build 12 New Stores Across Canada Beginning in Halifax!

After nearly 40 years, Ikea is returning to Halifax, Nova Scotia! The Scandinavian furniture retailer is building 12 new stores across the country over the next decade – doubling the current number – and they’re expecting to start construction in Halifax this summer. Despite the fact that their online sales have jumped 40% in the past year, Ikea believes customers are still drawn to their brick-and-mortar stores for ideas and inspiration.

I live in a medium-sized university town in southeastern Ontario and are constantly lamenting the fact that there is no Ikea here. Especially given all of the students! We’re about two hours from the warehouse in Ottawa and 2.5 hours to the closest Toronto location, so we’re lucky in that it’s still fairly accessible. Hopefully the new warehouse will be centrally located and easily accessed by a large population. We’ve often wondered why Ikea hasn’t snatched up more of Target’s abandoned locations! Birchbox May Pause All Canadian Services!

I have read on a few websites this morning, like Pandothat Birchbox is going to be putting a pause on all of their Canadian services. Their founder, Katia Beauchamp, believes that this is “100% the right decision to do for the company”. Do you agree? I know several people who seriously enjoy their Birchbox purchases, and I for one am sad about this. Read the rest of this entry »

Sears Canada is Closing Even More Stores This Year!

It appears that Sears Canada has been struggling for quite some time now – years to be exact. So sadly, Sears has decided to downsize again. In 2012 Sears had sold 3 stores for $170 million and in 2013 they told everyone that they also sold a few more leases for $191 million. Later in 2013 Sears had announced they were closing five more stores. And now? They are closing more stores again. Read the rest of this entry »

Britax Car Seats & Strollers Recalled Due To Choking Hazard!!!

I have been noticing more and more strollers with the foam bar across the front – but why? Just last July UPPAbaby had recalled certain strollers due to choking hazards with the foam, and now Britax has the same recall. Health Canada and Transport Canada have set forth a recall on select strollers and car seats made by Britax Child Safety Inc. The recall happened because there are safety concerns with the foam bar or foam handle.

So what products were recalled exactly? Read the rest of this entry »

Three Year Old Chokes on Kinder Surprise Toy in France?!

The U.S. has banned the famous Kinder Surprise Eggs for years now, and after a tragic event involving a three year old girl other countries may follow suit. The three year old girl from France is said to have choked to death on a toy from a Kinder Surprise Egg. Do you support this ban? Why or why not?

The Mirror newspaper reports that the three year old girl was with her mother when the incident happened. She had placed the wheeled toy in her mouth and proceeded to choke. Read the rest of this entry »

NewLeaf Airline Cancels Affordable Tickets & Postpones Service!?

Moosers, you’ve probably heard of the hype going on with the new low fare travel company – NewLeaf. I found myself saying that the prices were too good to be true, and now that might be the case. The NewLeaf Travel Company launched on January 6th and has now postponed their plans and has begun refunding whoever purchased airline tickets. Instead they will plan to begin operations late February after their licensing has been reviewed. This means that flights won’t be available until the spring, and even that isn’t set in stone. Glosette Raisins Recalled For Peanut Allergy Risks!

Posted by on December 21, 2015 at 8:00 PM

Glosette Raisins Recalled For Peanut Allergy Risks!

Uh oh! If you purchased the Glosette Raisins to put in some stockings this holiday season, you may want to think twice. There is a food recall warning due to an undeclared peanut allergen in the ever-so-popular Glosette Raisins. They recalled this delicious product today, and if you have anyone with a peanut allergy in your home then you will want to take action.

Hershey Canada does not have recalls very often, but this one is pretty important. Especially because the Glosette Raisins box states that this delicious treat does not list peanuts as an ingredient. Apparently that is not always the case. Hershey Canada is recalling select Glosette brand Raisins from the marketplace because they may contain peanut allergens which is not declared on their label. That means that if your little one has a peanut allergy, they could have a severe reaction from eating this chocolate treat. Read the rest of this entry »
