Firstly, to everyone who downloaded the Bargainmoose deals app and is still using it to keep up-to-date with all the deals – thanks! Thanks to everyone who has downloaded the Bargainmoose deals apps, and told their friends about it too – because we’ve just made it in to the top 10 in Finance downloads on the Apple app store (iTunes)! If you want to get in on the app action:

Please note that it seems to be slipping between 10th and 11th place as I write this, but we did get there! I’m hoping we can keep it up there for a while, to try and let more and more people know that it’s a really handy app to keep you up-to-date with great Canadian bargains. But it’s amazing to see Bargainmoose up there with the likes of the big banks and huge brands.

And thanks to everyone who left us really positive reviews on the app store – much appreciated! We’ve also been getting a lot of support on Twitter with many people helping us out by tweeting to their followers. If you tweet, that would help us a lot!

Our lovely senior editor Avigayil did an interview on CTV news Toronto yesterday! Watch it on this video, go to the archive for Tuesday Dec 20, scroll to the 16 minute mark if you want to go straight to the segment. Avigayil was questioned about store return policies, coming from an online shopping perspective.  Didn’t she do well?

This is the best week of the year to be a Bargainmooser – it’s Boxing Week! The deals from Canadian stores should be super, and they’ve already started showing up over on the deals forums. We’ve already seeing the Moosers sharing deals about all our favourite stores, Old Navy, The Source, Sears.ca and more. I’m also posting some exclusive offers from Canadian boutiques, you can see them in the forums too.

And we’ve had our trained development monkeys working overtime in preparing some lovely techie tidbits for you to use – a Boxing Day Sale Dashboard and a Boxing Day mobile app!

First of all, the Boxing Day dashboard is for using at any time over the Boxing Day period. It will gather together Boxing Day sales from many stores, so you can see the deals at a glance. In addition, you can drill in a bit further to see all the deals posted on the forums – you might catch some super bargains in there.

Secondly, our new app! You can download the Bargainmoose Boxing Day app through iTunes or the Android marketplace. The app collates all the Boxing Day information from the aforementioned dashboard, but it’s easy to use when you’re out and about.

If you know of a great Boxing Day deal, please don’t hesitate to share it on the Bargainmoose forums! Alternatively, you could be brave – if you spot a deal in-store, share it on the Bargainmoose app!

Lately, I have been getting more and more emails from people commenting that they are receiving expired deals in their daily Bargainmoose email updates. I want to do a quick post to tell you a bit more about this issue.

If you ONLY read Bargainmoose via the email update, you’re going to miss out on some of the best offers! I can only send the email out once every 24 hours, so no matter when in the day I choose to send it, you’re going to miss out on some of the short-lived bargains. For example, the Tim Hortons & Canadian Tire gift cards only lasted for an hour or two, as did this offer for Cardswap gift cards.

So I suggest you stop by Bargainmoose a few times a day to see if there are any good deals to snap up, rather than relying solely on the daily emails. If you ONLY read the emails, you might miss out!

Hey Moosers! I thought I would drop you all a line about our lovely Bargainmoose forum.

First off: The Bargainmoose forum can be found under ‘hot deals‘ under our big Bargainmoose banner up at the top of the blog, or through that pretty little right top side Hot Deals window.

I wanted to let you know that  not only do we blog about fantastic deals, but we also put awesome deals on the forum. Though we do have some overlap there are deals on the forum you won’t see on the blog! This isn’t because they are ‘less fantastic deals’ but because we have fantastic writers on both the forum and the blog: so you will find great deals both places.

I, personally love to dump a bunch of deals I find with near expiry dates on the forum, especially if it is a high deal day (meaning I am finding loads!). There are some great freebies on the forum you won’t see on the blog: a Hugo Boss Orange Sample and Find Your Bliss shower gel/body butter freebie. Our wonderful forum gals post freebies all the time over there!

As some of you know, and others will now know: Blockbuster is going under. This Friday, 9th, September 2011, they are starting their big clearance sales to clear out the merchandise.

As part of the closure process, Blockbuster Canada Co. will have a final clearance sale for its entire inventory at a significant discount, after which the company’s remaining stores will close. I bought a bottle of this for my man last week. He doesn’t wear aftershave often, but I am actually trying to encourage him to wear it more regularly.
